The Federal Government has announced that the Canada Greener Homes Loan program is ending and the last day to apply is Oct. 1, 2025.
This loan was just one of several financial incentives available to homeowners for upgrades to make their home more energy efficient and comfortable and Retrofit Assist will continue to offer guidance on other options.
What should you do now?
Retrofit Assist is advising homeowners who were hoping to access the Canada Greener Homes Loan for upgrades:
1. If you have already applied to the loan and been approved:
You do not have to worry about this announcement.
2. If you have already applied to the loan and are waiting for pre-approval:
Continue to wait to hear back.
3. If you have not yet applied for the loan:
You can apply by October 1 however please note that applications will be getting accepted on a first-come-first-served basis, until all funds have been allocated.
Therefore even if you apply between now and Oct 1st, it does not guarantee your acceptance.
In order to apply by October 1, you need to have:
- Completed a pre-EnerGuide evaluation with an Energy Advisor
- Received back your EnerGuide report
- Received quotes from your contractor(s)
