Advancing Squamish's Climate Goals
Squamish is dedicated to a low-carbon future.
We are lucky to live in a community with so many beautiful natural places. However, climate change can affect these wild places, as well as our vibrant community. We are already seeing the impacts of climate change at home. In 2019, the District of Squamish declared a climate emergency and began work on a Community Climate Action Plan (CCAP), which outlines 122 actions to reduce community greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030.
Climate action is a task each of us must take seriously— one that requires effort from every citizen and all levels of government. The Big Six Moves list actions that our community can take to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 38,300 tonnes CO2e per year by 2030.
- Close the loop on waste
- Shift beyond the car
- Decarbonize transportation
- Decarbonize existing buildings
- Construct better buildings
- Other organizational actions
Retrofit Assist is just one way that the District of Squamish is helping residents take action to decarbonize existing buildings and get us on track to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
There are a limited number of $250 top-ups available to help cover the cost of your pre-retrofit EnerGuide Evaluation, funded through the District of Squamish. This top up will automatically be applied to your EnerGuide Evaluation invoice.
