Advancing East Kootenay's Climate Goals
Over the past 12 years, the RDEK has supported numerous programs and pilot projects to support homeowners and contractors in the East Kootenay access training, programming, and rebates for home energy retrofits:
East Kootenay Energy Diet – Provided rebates for home energy audits and support in navigating the rebate programs at the provincial level.
Building a Legacy – Focused on contractor and trades training to ensure foundational skills are being developed among the local building industry. This program has now been replicated in other regions in BC.
Kootenay Clean Energy Transition – This project started to marry the delivery of programs and the capacity building among builders and contractors. Included in this project were a Heat Pump pilot project and additional trades capacity building.
We are excited to be a funder of the Retrofit Assist program as it will provide additional tools, support and resources to our residents in making their homes more energy efficient.
